Go underwater with mermaids, puppets or down a rabbit hole with the hottest dancers of Broadway. At the same time, remember the refugees around the world! Fantasy is all fun and fine, especially if it benefits a great cause.
Mutiny on West 54th Street?
Jollyship The Whiz-Bang
Through Saturday, June 28
Creepy pirate puppets. The high seas. A rum-soaked rock musical. Put this all together and you get Jollyship the Whiz Bang, created by Brooklyn-based indie rock stars Nick Jones and Raja Azar. Rape, murder, and treachery are rocking the boat as Captain Clamp and his crew sail their way to party island. All that and, blimey!, the ship is sinking, the captain is wasted, and scurvy is in the air. Sounds just like last Friday night!
$25.
Through Saturday, June 28
Wednesdays – Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.

Salute their strength, learn their plight and find out what you can do to help. Speakers include the Director of the United Nations Commissioner for Refugees, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan and Angelina Jolie. Ok, maybe not Angelina, but go anyway.

Celebrate the sand, the sea, and starfish bras! Coney Island hosts the nation’s largest “art” parade, and the art is homemade. Who knew mermaids hung out in the back of pick up trucks? For wholesome trashy fun, you don’t have to spend much to fit in. Grab your flippers and parade with mermaids, mermen, sea horses, and everything else under the sea. Just stay away from crabs!
