When we heard there was a picnic this Sunday at a bath house, we got really excited. All those wieners, buns and flowing red gingham fabric – it’s enough to make our hearts go pitter-pat. Then we were corrected and told it wasn’t that kind of bath house. No, this was a Bath House Cultural Center, which must mean there’s a Picasso hanging above the 20-man hot tub.
Wrong again.
But the truth is actually something more exciting altogether. Because next to anonymous trysts amidst the smell of chlorine and Aqua Velva, our favorite thing to do is eat. So join us this Sunday at the Chefs’ Picnic at the Lake, part of White Rock Lake’s Centennial Celebration all weekend long.
On Sunday from noon to 3:00 p.m., Chef Brian C. Luscher (pictured) of The Grape leads a team of a select group of Dallas’ finest chefs ready to put their own mark on traditional picnic fare. It’s going to be gourmet all the way, baby. If you leave this event hungry, you’re not trying hard enough. Plus, enjoy plenty of beer, wine and Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka cocktails to quench the size of thirst that can only happen on a 100-degree day.
Proceeds will benefits the American Red Cross Dallas Area Chapter, as well as help fund improvement projects around the lake, from hiking and bike trails to the dog park and forest areas.
White Rock Lake is one of the city’s great outdoor treasures, so anything to keep it going strong for another 100 years is something we’re excited to stand behind.
Just like a naked college quarterback at the bath house.
