If you’re easily offended…

Never mind. If you were easily offended you wouldn’t read Gay List Daily. But just in case you have some sour-faced, uptight, boorish friend who can’t take a joke begging you to see Ted, you may want to find somebody a little more, um, flexible.

The first live-action film from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is almost identical in tone to his raunchy and hilariously deviant cartoon sitcom. No person, race or subject matter is off limits and that’s what makes his all’s-fair-in-love-and-insults style so refreshing in our absurdly politically correct culture.

Ted, if you haven’t already figured out from their marketing onslaught, is about a boy and his teddy bear, who comes to life after a Christmas wish. But as children’s toys that are brought to life through some sort of magic tend to do, Ted grows up and has adult needs. Like tons of sex and lots of drugs.

His grown-up best friend is played by a butt-baring Mark Wahlberg, perfectly comfortable in his against-type comedic role.

Like Family Guy, Ted is filled with random pop-culture references and genius gags. One of our favorites involves not a parody of Saturday Night Fever, but a shot-for-shot homage to Airplane!’s Saturday Night Fever parody instead.

Plus, we’re all about any movie that can resurrect one of the cheesiest movies of all time (Flash Gordon) and give its star a new shot at putting food on the table.

Talk about a Christmas wish come true for somebody.
