You Can’t Spell Photographer Without “Hot”

And nobody likes a pographer

Art is one of our favorite things because it’s one aspect of life where everybody is entitled to his or her opinion and it’s never wrong. That’s why we consider our relationships, political opinions and who the world’s most annoying person is to all be art. That way, we’re always right.

But great art is something that stretches your imagination and transports you to another world. And when great art is made by a hot artist, we’ve got our checkbooks out ready to become avid stalkers collectors.

That’s why our new artistic crush is on Ted Kincaid, not to be confused with Thomas Kinkade, whose Christmas villages we had more than enough of this year, thank you very much. And sadly, he’s not the manager of the Partridge Family, either.

No, this Kincaid is like the Anderson Cooper of the art world. Sexy, sophisticated and master of his universe.

The press release describes his works as the “interpenetration between painting and photography,” but when we think “interpenetration” it sounds more Sean Cody than sophisticated art. So we’ll describe it in more pedestrian terms: photos that look fake and digitally manipulated images that look real.

You have to experience his art in person to truly appreciate it, and that’s why we decided to tease you with an image from his show and not a photo of Mr. Kincaid himself. That way, you’ll have to come to the opening and meet him face to face to understand his dreaminess.

And who knows, if things go well, there could be a little interpenetration in your future. Or at the very least, a new piece of art above your sofa.
