Caffeinated California
No wonder a Starbucks rests on every corner
As desert flowers and canyon sages bloom with April, so does the bustling Southern California calendar. We’re still trying to catch our breath from the past few weekends, and with no end in site of can’t-miss-events, we’ll be pulling a Mariah Carey “exhaustion” in no time.
Antique-Gay
Los Angeles Antiques Show
Today through Sunday, April 26, Thursday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Age is avoided at all costs in Los Angeles, except when it comes to antiques. For a community that exalts youth, we gays just can’t get enough antiquing in. The Los Angeles Antique Weekend opened last night and runs through Thursday. We’re hoping to learn a thing or four from the items at the show, like how to make gays drool over us at any age.

An Evening with Women
Presented by the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center
Friday, April 24 – Cocktails & Silent Auction, 6:00 p.m; Dinner & show, 8:00
By title alone, an evening with women doesn’t sound like our ideal night out. But upon learning that Gina Gershon will host, Sharon Stone will preside over an auction and Linda Perry and Christina Aguilera will perform, we learn to look beyond the title and at the package (a familiar focal point for our eyes anyway). The incredible talent is there to celebrate the lesbian and bisexual women that have made L.A. a better city for the LGBT, which is why we won’t feel bad crashing their party to hear Perry and Aguilera perform TOGETHER!

The Return of Hot Dog
Saturday, April 25
Oh the trouble we found ourselves in on a weekly basis thanks to Mario Diaz’s Hot Dog… It’s been a few years, and though we’ve started to get our shit together in the notorious club’s absence, we’re damn ready for the plump, pansy party’s return. Drunken debauchery looks better on us than discipline anyways.

Waiting for Guest, Man
Unwigged and Unplugged
Sunday, April 26, 8:00 p.m.
We’re always a fan of wigs, but we’ll let our preferences slide for Christopher Guest and the beloved members of Spinal Tap. The phenomenon that coined the term “mockumentary” and launched Guest’s career, Spinal Tap (featuring Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean) lands in Los Angeles – sans their 80s hair metal wigs and pesky electronic cords.
Tickets: $49.50 - $69.50
