Home Sweet Homo

The doors of our local CB2 have finally opened

IKEA might as well be in Vegas. They’re both a distant, traffic-congested drive from WeHo or Silver Lake, and we usually return from the two destinations with our lips sealed.

“Is that IKEA?” our rude friends will interrupt.

“No, we found it at the Melrose Trading Post.”

“That’s funny… could’ve sworn that was the same desk in the catalog, and used in every other homo’s apartment from here to Stockholm.”

It was only a matter of time before our gayers were answered and we were given a closer, affordable offering to help dress our cozy abodes. Sure, we’d love to step into Sonrisa, Blueprint, or any of the drool-inspiring boutiques in the PDC; however, the flat fiscal year has transformed us into frugally-furnished fags.

Thankfully, we have the brand spank-us new CB2 – Crate & Barrel’s affordable offspring – in WeHo.

Taking over a portion of the space that once was L.A.’s Virgin Megastore, the new furnishings and décor Mecca has been our homo away from home since opening a few weeks ago. Sporting a similar contemporary flare as its big brother but with a price tag that doesn’t beckon the flask to be called from our murse, CB2 is the ideal middle grounds in home furnishing shopping.

Finally can we lose the guilt of updating our living spaces – interiors that haven’t been updated since before the recession hit, which is an epoch in gay design years. (Before the opening, even Graceland felt more modernized than our home.)

Once again, our living room is up to strict L.A. gay code, no outsourcing to Sweden via Burbank necessary.

CB2 is now open
8000 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood
