House of Extravaganza

Social Primer primes us for the spotlight

As you may recall, we eagerly jump on that which pops up.

The most recent pop-up for us pansies to pounce on is Social Primer’s foray into the physical realm. Though limited to a corner of the expansive Lily Lodge, SP’s retail space is crowded with tools of refinement, made popular on the web site that started it all, SocialPrimer.com.

Unrealistic citizens have maintained that the size of a pop-up doesn’t matter; it’s how they’re used that counts. We’ve giggled and sarcastically nodded to such a statement in the past, but after visiting Social Primer, our minds have been changed.

Owner and style-maven Cooper Ray (love the name!) hand-selects each mode of decorum on display at the shop, as well as the website. Monogrammed items such as coasters, napkins, playing cards and the more-traditional memos and correspondence cards conspire to possibly make this the most elegant tiny corner in WeHo (apologies to the back area of Fubar; better luck next year).

The shop’s other commodities of cultivation include monogrammed soaps, tumblers and coffee table-worthy books of design.

While the current financial terrain makes celebrating the civilized life a difficult task, Social Primer prides itself on affordability – most of the shop’s finds are priced under $50.

Our dinner parties might no longer be catered by Mark’s, but at least our distinguished guests can wipe the non-brand Chex mix from their mouths with GLD monogrammed napkins.

All is not lost in the House of Extravaganza, after all.
