L.GAY Pride

It’s the time of the season…

Hollywood’s population isn’t the only thing to swell during the high days of L.A. Pride. As your favorite wingman, we’re here to make sure that your options are as wide open and ready for fun as the half-million gays visiting our fair(y) city. Look no further, your guide to bliss is here, including a very exclusive giveaway to one of the city’s biggest Pride Sunday events (see Fueled by Diesel below…). Happy Pride!

Saturday, June 13

Pride and Fabulousness
Festival Day One
The weekend’s unofficial home base, this year’s L.A. Pride festival is a bit more appealing than in years past. On Saturday, acts like Fantasia, Deborah Cox, Debby Holiday, The Upright Cabaret and more take to the stage making that pricey (compared to other pride festivals across the country) entrance fee finally worth it.

Noon – midnight
$15 per-day advance; $20 at gate
San Vicente between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose
www.lapride.org

Through the Hot-looking Ass
Tom Whitman’s Wonderland
Like its throngs of dance floor attendees, Tom Whitman’s annual Wonderland event is the biggest and buffest offering on the calendar. Still at Paramount Studios, the extravagant dance party has shot to the top of the worldwide circuit calendar. Yea, it may end early-ish (3:00 a.m.), but the eye and ear candy will surely provide for a lifetime of memories. Plus, if you’re not ready to wind down after getting worked up at Wonderland, the night doesn’t have to end anytime soon…

7:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
$75 presale; $80 at the door
Paramount Studios
DJ Manny Lehman
780 N. Gower, Hollywood

Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough
Scandal After Hours
Those behind the Scandal after hours are smart – provide a dance floor stumbling distance from Wonderland, throw in DJs Paulo and Alexander, and voila, they’ve got themselves a party. The scandalous opportunities at this event are the biggest reason we’re worried we’ll only be half-present at Sunday’s parade.

Midnight – 9:00 a.m.
$40
The Music Box at The Henry Fonda Theatre
6126 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood

Sunday, June 14

Boulevard of Dreams
The L.A. Pride Parade
Whether you’ve slept for eight hours or are joining hundreds of thousands of others who have yet to find a moment for a disco nap, the L.A. Pride Parade is the cornerstone of the weekend. Find some shades and head down to Santa Monica Boulevard to see hundreds of floats and hundreds of thousands of fairies.

11:00 a.m.
Free
Santa Monica Boulevard between Crescent Heights and San Vicente

Fueled by Diesel
The Diesel Dealership Party on the LASC Rooftop
We’re rarely in need of justifications for our healthy shopping tabs, but LASC is giving us a reason to spend this Pride holiday. For every $250 spent on the Diesel brand, shoppers are given two tickets to the store’s rooftop party taking place during the tail-end of the parade on Sunday. There surely will be no better view in town, and given that there’s an open vodka and Monster bar, revelers will be enjoying the tail-ends of more than just the parade.

1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Spend $250 on Diesel anytime before the event for two tickets
Rooftop of 8592 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood
www.shoplasc.com

Gay List Daily Prize Alert
Gay List Daily, Diesel and LASC are teaming up to give away TWO pairs of tickets to this exclusive rooftop party! Want to enjoy an open bar, DJ Corey Craig (also this year’s NYC Pier Dance headliner), and the best view of gyrating muscle parading down the boulevard? Send us a note via our ‘Contact Us’ link to let us know you’re interested. Not yet a subscriber? Simple! Subscribe for free to the Los Angeles edition and then enter. Winners will be notified by Friday afternoon, and will be required to pick up their tickets in person at LASC in West Hollywood. Good luck!

Pride and Fabulousness
Festival Day Two
Day two of the festival always draws large crowds who slowly funnel in towards the end of the parade. Blake Lewis, Terri Nunn and Berlin, and a secretive closing performance appear queerly on the main stage, but it’s the 18+ Erotic City area that we’ll probably spend most of our hangover exploring.

11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
$15 per-day advance; $20 at the door
San Vicente, between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose
www.lapride.org

Take it to the Playground
Play
Play, the summer’s newest event, might get off to a great beginning as the ending party for L.A. Pride. The event takes over Hollywood’s unofficial gay home base (Avalon) in the hedonistic ways only Rohan Bisset, Anthony Lopez and Tattoo Chris can. Sporting a soundtrack by Tracy Young, Phil B, Josh Peace and Derek Monteiro, we’re hoping there will be plenty of proud boys ready to Play on the dance floor.

10:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
Playhouse
6506 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood
Tickets available through www.RohanBisset.com
