The So-Cal music scene heats up with the weather

April seems to be the best time for concerts and music festivals in Southern California. We don’t kick it into high (desert) gear until later in the month during White Party and Coachella, but our region’s music-related events are off to an early start. And like with the go-go we met last night at Club Lucky, we’re ready to dive right in. Wanna jump with us? Put on your ex-president mask (see “Point Twink” below) and let’s go!

Plus, the odds of spotting and meeting a hot gay amidst the Sapphic sea are probably better than at White Party…

Lily Allen’s latest release It’s Not Me, It’s You is full of the witty lyrics we’ve come to expect from the pond-hopping pop star. But it’s her attack on homophobic bullies in the song Fuck You that is drawing us to Allen’s show tonight. We can always use the help of an outspoken Brit to strike The Fear into the hearts of Prop 8 supporters…

We’re sorry, but we have to add the hit play Point Break LIVE! to our music-themed calendar. Considering the stars of the film (on which this stage spoof is based) have led semi-successful musical careers, we feel it’s justified. Adding to our rationalization, the hot cast of this hilarious spoof shares many scenes shirtless on stage. Forgive us yet?

If we were stuck in Iowa we might create music and outlandish spandex outfits too. However, we doubt we’d reach the campy brilliance that cult band Leslie and the LY’s have effortlessly achieved.
