One Night Stand
Koreatown
Yet again we’re proud to launch a new recurring feature, ironically titled One Night Stand. Yes, one night stands are great because they don’t recur, but this one’s a lurker (not the kind that stalks you on Myspace or that you warn your friends about, though).
Since we’ve held many one night stands throughout each of L.A.’s vibrant neighborhoods, we’ve learned that there’s much more to our gay city than WeHo and Silver Lake. To spread the love without the risk of a post-tryst doctor’s visit, we’ll be highlighting a gay-friendly night out in a carefully selected neighborhood. First up, Koreatown.
Food
Tahoe Galbi Korean BBQ
It’s no secret that when faced with mouth-watering meat, our appetite is unyielding. Koreatown has plenty of all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ venues to satisfy our cravings, but the Tahoe is our favorite. Be sure to make a reservation as it seems many others share the preference as well. Oh, and be sure you can handle your loads of meat; diners are charged for the unused portions that remain.
All-you-can-eat starts at $17
3986 Wilshire Boulevard, Koreatown
(213) 365-9000

Fun
Miss T’s Barcade
We don’t like to reveal our age on a first date, but after catching glimpse of classic 80’s video games and shrieking, the deed was done. Miss T’s is our favorite bar in K-Town, and though filled to the brim with hipsters, the convergence of an adult arcade with a beer/wine/sake menu and live music or DJs makes this spot a must. Head over after dinner on a Saturday for music you’re used to back in WeHo or Silver Lake, if you’d prefer easing into K-Town.

The Silver Platter
If you’d rather not mingle much with the straights, the Silver Platter has been keeping it gay in the K-Town area for decades. Tuesday nights are the wildest at the bar, but the dive-atmosphere and low drink prices will have you feeling like you’ve escaped L.A. any night of the week.
Cash only
2700 W. 7th Street, Los Angeles

The Brass Monkey
But if you want straight up, err, gay up Korean entertainment, head to the Brass Monkey and indulge in the ancient art of karaoke. You’ll quickly learn that we bitches do it very differently at Fiesta; however, with alcohol not lost in translation, the night still ends up being messy fun.
