Plais-ir becomes the center of sweet in WeHo

If Las Vegas is Sin City, then West Hollywood might be the Land of Temptation.

There are buff boys at all hours on the sidewalk testing our will power, gallons of caffeinated confections, offered on every corner in doses large enough to give Rush Limbaugh a stroke, and now, succulent gourmet sweets at Plaisir.

We’ve had a hard enough time ignoring our hard enough times below when facing the ever-changing sea of boys on the boulevard. Since they’re as fickle and fleeting as the industry that drew them here in the first place, at least we now have a place to drown our romantic sorrows in Boystown that doesn’t end at the bottom of a glass.

Yea, desserts are bad, but we have never been good. The fare at Plaisir is the spanking bad boys like us have always wanted but have been to shy (or coy) to receive on Santa Monica Boulevard.

With one lick of the ginger ice cream (paired alongside a house-made croissant, might we recommend), there’s no going back. (It’s like Prince Harry always says, “Once you go ginge…”)

Luckily, customers who grab a seat at Plaisir’s bar have for their perusal one of a handful of mini-iPods loaded with palatable music to pass the hours they’ll want to spend sipping on exquisitely brewed espresso drinks and nibbling on the eatery’s crepes.

Don’t worry; Speedo season is still four months away. Even if you indulge in Plaisir as much as we think you’ll want to right up until May and beyond, as the café’s motto says, “The devil eats at Plaisir.”

It wouldn’t be L.A. if there wasn’t a deal to be made at the table…
