Lassie’s in the lap of luxury

There is a debilitating obsession in Hollywood. No, we’re not writing of the desire to inject oneself with Suri Cruise’s tears, or the labeling of steamed tofu and chilled fish skin as “food” – we’re talking about the pampering of pooches.

And as we’ve fallen victim to the other obsessions with more or less success, so have we to the spoiling of Spot.

While the gay community’s reputation for having large amounts of expendable income is diminishing thanks to the rise of gaybies, those of us who have yet to make the leap from ankle humper to ankle biter might be able to afford the opulence of the D Pet Hotel on Highland.

The resort’s list of amenities makes our pooches AND our wallets whine in anticipation.

Guests of D Hotel enjoy luxury suites outfitted with queen beds and flat panel TVs, multiple fitness rooms, filtered and conditioned air, spa treatments, personal pet fitness trainers, and more – all against a backdrop of electronic/chill music that plays throughout the hotel.

And if your morning Bloody Mary has you running late, D offers chauffer service to and from the hotel (for Fido, not Homo).

It’s still six months until the other one-letter luxury hotel opens in Hollywood (the W), so we might try to book ourselves a suite at D.

But, we don’t expect to be successful. Even though we’ve been called a “dog” by our ex-boyfriends and have spent plenty of time on all fours, we don’t technically fit the guest requirements.
