That’s So L.A.pril
The best in TV comes alive
We know tomfoolery is rife today, but what if we told you that you’ll be watching fresh Pushing Daisy episodes soon. Believe us?
Yes, we fag-fib on the usual things: age, dimensions, when we lost our virginity – but April Fools is for tools. We’re more into May Gay.
You’ll be pleased to know that we’re not, in fact, yanking your dangling chain; the above-referenced splendor will occur at the annual Paley Fest. The annual festival is a celebration of television, connecting fans with the casts and creative teams behind hit shows.
For 2009, the Paley Center is honoring a handful of gaydored series like Big Love, True Blood, 90210 (the twinkier version), Pushing Daisies and Desperate Housewives.
Like the wives on Big Love, each show gets its own night of loving, allowing audiences to watch clips of the series along with a panel of its cast and creative team. (Interesting note: 90210 will be moderated by Diablo Cody. Honest to GLD.)
For the Pushing Daises experience, the festival will screen the final three unaired episodes, meaning we can finally end our hunger strike in front of Disney Studios (though we enjoy our new eight-pack and being chained to a street light).
But the magic of television might best come alive when we attend the True Blood event. With both Stephen Moyer (who plays the seductive vampire “Bill Compton”) and the ripped blond actor Ryan Kwanten (pictured, “Jason Stackhouse”) mere feet in front of us, our true blood won’t be rushing to our necks...
There are many experiences unique to Los Angeles (like unknowingly sleeping with the entire cast of The Fast and Bi-Curious), but interacting live with the stars of TV’s best shows rates near the top (which, ironically, is hard to find in this city).
Friday, April 10 - Friday, April 24
Tickets: $45 - $60, general; $35 - $50, members
Most events occur at the Cinerama Dome at Arclight Hollywood
6360 W. Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood
