The Gold Rush

Gold Class Cinemas has struck...well, gold

Move over diamonds, gold is about to be an LA girl's best friend.

We've sipped cocktails in first class and business class, and now we can imbibe the good stuff in gold class – though instead of mile high, these premium seats are available Earthbound in hilly Pasadena, at the movie theater of our dreams, Gold Class Cinemas.

The luxury theater chain has just opened its first pair of golden doors in the LA area, and we're already having our mail sent to the location.

Why? For starters, Gold Class's movie-time menu moves beyond the ab-debilitating likes of confectionery goods and processed cheese and heads straight, err, gayly to refined items like Maine lobster rolls ($18), sushi sampler plates ($18), chicken piccata sandwiches ($13) and crème brulee ($9), to name a few.

Before we worry about staining our new Maxfield Blue (woman's) jeans with soy sauce, Gold Class refuses to subject us to the atrocities of eating from our own laps (even though we're not flexible enough to accomplish such an endeavor); every pair of lush recliner theater seats includes ample table room, providing enough surface size to handle the most amount of food you will ever want to consume inside a cinema.

But, if you're anything like us, the prized tabletop real estate will most likely be reserved for the damn-good cocktails available to order both from the trendy-designed lounge as well as from within the theater.

With such amenities and appointments, it'll be hard to decide what the true main attraction is.
