Vampire-Con gives gay fans something to suck on

Do you enjoy a few pricks on your neck as much as we do? Then you might consider yourselves as excited as we are for Vampire-con, coming up in August.

Not that we needed the new convention’s steamy, blood-rushing ad featuring two undead studs getting it on in a coffin to become interested; no, gay culture and vampires have long skipped along parallel lines.

Since Dracula premiered in the 30’s, queens on the DL across the world developed a taste for lace, velvet and the macabre. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt only exaggerated our obsession with eternal youth and kinky foreplay in Interview with the Vampire. And now, considering the numerous posters surrounding our princess canopy beds, gay pop-culture memes like Jason Stack-ed as a-House from True Blood, Robert Pattison and the cast from Here TV’s The Lair suggest that our affinity for all things vamp is only strengthening.

At long last, vampires will be coming out of their rainbow coffins during the debut weekend of the world’s first vamp convention: Vampire-Con, taking place here in Hollywood.

Sure, there’ll be paneled discussions on True Blood and Twilight, but the convention’s exploration of vampire lust during its Hot Blooded: Vampires & Sexuality event leaves us thirsty for more. Scheduled to sit on the panel are Pam Keesey, author of steamy lesbian vampire novels, and the shockingly sexy cast of the aforementioned Lair.

The weekend is loaded with other events, like a vampire film festival and ball, but it’s our little slice of gay vampire recognition that we’re excited to sink our veneered teeth into…
