Finally, the iPhone does something useful

Forget GPS. Screw the faster speed. The best part about the new iPhone software is the App Store. We have spent many a sleepless night downloading games, light sabers, tip calculators and thoroughly useless gadgets that simply make us giggle until our sights are set on something brighter and shinier. But then, we found iDrink, our favorite cocktail application of those now available.

With a quick download directly from your iPhone, iPod Touch, or the iTunes Store, you have portable access to over 4,500 cocktail recipes. Search by name, ingredient (liquor, mixer or garnish), or from your list of favorites. (For some of us, that’s all 4,500, but we’re trying to be more selective).

It’s the perfect little tool for coming up with a drink based on whatever’s lying around the house. Got a bottle of rum and some vanilla ice cream? Pour yourself a Rum Mocha, sister! Tequila and Egg Whites? How about a Prado for breakfast with your muesli.

But best of all, the power struggle at your local gay bar has shifted in your favor. No more asking the bartender for a Harvey Wallbanger and getting a blank stare. Now you’re the boss of the gay bar and he’s your bitch.
