Drag yourself to the TV for a second season

Forget Lost. The real season premiere we’re looking forward to is filled with more intrigue, more suspense and a helluva lot more hairspray.

Yes, RuPaul’s Drag Race is back for sassy seconds and the girls are more over-the-top and entertaining than ever. Polar Bears and Smoke Monsters be damned.

The search for “America’s Next Drag Superstar” is on and twelve new queens are vying for the title. The Project Runway Meets Top Model formula hasn’t changed, but in Season Two, the show has an even better vibe than last year with slicker editing, crazier challenges, and more drama than that time we asked TightPants1987 to send us his face pic on Manhunt and it turned out to be our married nephew.

Plus, the success of the first season has helped our Dear Miss Ru find a Who Blew Who of gay icons from Kathy Griffin in the first episode, to Cloris Leachman, Debbie Reynolds, Jackie Collins, Alec Mapa (we love you!), Martha Wash and Tanya Tucker, just to name a select few.

The premiere finds our lovely contestants competing in “Gone with the Window,” a Tara-inspired photo shoot followed by a fantastic elimination challenge to create a new drag look out of nothing but curtains and household items. (Scarlett would be so proud.)

Upcoming challenges include competing as burlesque dancers, singing live (a Drag Race first!), and transforming older men into drag mothers. We can’t wait for that last one, especially with Leachman and Reynolds as guest judges.

We just wish one of the challenges had been filming a drag version of our new favorite commercial, though how could they ever turn fitness into something raunchy? (We have faith.)

RuPaul’s Drag Race is in perfect form and we can’t wait to see who takes home the crown. (And who loses an eye.) Twelve gay divas in one dressing room? You know it’s gonna happen sooner or later, we just hope the cameras are rolling!
