CB2: This isn’t your straight father’s Crate & Barrel
When it comes to home furnishing, we gay boys want it all. Smart design, clever materials and contemporary colors. And we don’t want something disposable from IKEA that falls apart before it even goes out of style.
Move over West Elm, there’s a new urban home furnishing store in town!
“CB who?” you ask. CB2. As in Crate & Barrel 2.0, because, let’s face it, version 1.0 was in dire need of an urban upgrade.
Don’t get us wrong. We still love Crate & Barrel.
However, until we need to furnish that imaginary upstate country house in Hudson (which we plan to buy soon after we can finally afford that contemporary beach house in The Pines), we’ve decided it’s best to concentrate on furnishing our fabulous downtown loft (even if it’s actually just a fifth floor walk-up in a tenement building).
You may have already seen the CB2 catalog or possibly even checked out their website. But blindly shopping online has many pitfalls. When it comes to decorating, we Gay List Daily boys prefer to feel textures and inspect craftsmanship before we swipe our hard earned credit away!
And, without a doorman, deliveries in New York (if they actually ever get delivered) are irritating at best.
Now for the good news. CB2 has a store in SoHo!
After a recent trip, we’re happy to report that we were extremely impressed with the prices, style and the quality. Apparently you can have it all!
Sleek sofas that flex with your space and your life. Contemporary rugs that will floor you. And true to its Crate & Barrel roots, CB2 dinnerware that will surely send your cheap Chinese takeout right over the Great Wall.
We’re not sure how the food will actually rate, but Décor and Cost ratings will definitely be in the high 20’s with all the fagats who read Zagat!
