It's always 5 o'clock somewhere, but that doesn't mean it's always Happy Hour. Or does it?

Thanks to a bit of peer-reviewed and -submitted magic, it possibly is always our favored hour of the day, and we don't have to trace the world dateline across a globe to pinpoint where. Instead, the Happy Houred website and iPhone app makes us blissfully aware of the great drink deals going on around the clock, in our backyard.

(Well, not literally our backyard — we had our liquor license revoked after our last after hours got a little heady.)

Sure, Happy Houred's website is just as useful, but the iPhone app comes in handy at the precise moment when our deep need for libations hits, whether that's in the subway, on the freeway or in Doris from Human Resource's modest, aging sedan on carpool day.

Once Doris begins to mention the company's dwindling 401k, we can simply fire up the application, click in a few pertinent details — bar type (of which we prefer “gay & lesbian.” Imagine that); offer type (where we choose between beer, cocktails, wine, etc.); and day and time — and the most gorgeous Google map we've ever laid our queer eyes upon pops up, complete with tiny beacons of happy hour hope as presented in pinpoint locations on the map.

And just like the match-up between Levi Johnston, a hockey stick and Playgirl, Happy Houred can make our wildest fantasies come true.

Midnight on a Friday, there's no gay bar in its right mind offering drink specials, right? Wah-wah, wrong! Happy Houred provided a surprisingly extensive list of late-hour specials in most gay areas across the country we searched for, even during the unexpected prime-time hours on weekends!

We're thinking a road trip is in order (with a DD, of course).
