Micro-focused reading for the gay dog poetry lover

Okay, don’t be too confused by the title. We’re not writing about gay dogs that love poetry. Although that would make a great Jerry Springer episode, especially if followed by the qualifier “and the men who love them.”

No, we’re actually keeping it more highbrow (well, highbrow by our low-bar standards) and giving you the poop scoop on a poetry book about pups.

Homopup is a collection of poems about (and for) our four-legged friends. Some of the verse is sad, some is silly and some is just weird - but that’s what makes it great.

In it, you’ll find well known works like Gertrude Stein giving a shout out to her dear hound “Monsieur Basket.” (Coincidentally, that’s the same nickname we’ve given our favorite go-go dancer.)

There are also fabulous obscurities like John Del Peschio’s “Fifi, the dangerous fag dog.”

Maybe some show tune queen should set the whole thing to music and make a million dollars off of it.
